Silence & Solitude

Asirvanam Benedictine Monastery is marked by a profound atmosphere of silence and peace. This solitude gently invites both monks and visitors to rediscover the deeper values of life. For the monks, silence is not withdrawal from the world but a sacred space that allows them to live continually in the presence of God and to remain attentive to the movements of His Spirit.

Prayer – Personal & Communal

Prayer forms the heart of monastic life at Asirvanam. The monks gather five times daily to chant the praises of God through the Psalms, uniting personal prayer with communal worship. This rhythm of prayer sustains their vocation and gives expression to their continual search for God.

The Living Word – Lectio Divina

Nearly two hours each day are devoted to Lectio Divina, a prayerful and attentive reading of Sacred Scripture. Through this simple yet profound encounter with the Word of God—from both the Old and New Testaments—the monks open their whole being to the transforming power of divine grace.

Work, Charity & Service

Faithful to the Benedictine spirit of Ora et Labora, the monks engage in both manual and intellectual work. Their labour is offered as service—to the Church, to those who seek prayer and guidance, and to all who come to Asirvanam in search of peace, reflection, and spiritual support.

The Holy Eucharist

At the centre and summit of monastic life stands the Holy Eucharist. Celebrated daily with reverence, careful preparation, and deep faith in the Paschal Mystery, the Eucharist remains the source and fulfilment of all Christian life at Asirvanam.
