St. Benedict’s English Medium School

St. Benedict’s English Medium School is an educational initiative of St. Benedict’s Monastery, Asirvanam, established with a deep commitment to social responsibility, quality education, and the upliftment of local communities. Inspired by Benedictine values, the mission of the monastery has always been twofold: to provide meaningful employment for local people and to offer accessible, value-based education for children, especially those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

With the vision of providing free education to poor children from neighboring villages, the monastery opened St. Benedict’s Kannada Lower Primary School in 1996. From its humble beginnings, the school quickly became a place of hope and learning, attracting children from surrounding rural areas who previously had limited access to formal education.

The school initially offered free primary education up to the 4th standard. In the year 2000, a new school building with a spacious playground was constructed, providing a safe, nurturing, and child-friendly environment. The school soon gained a reputation for its peaceful atmosphere, disciplined learning culture, and holistic approach to child development, unmatched by other schools in the vicinity.

In 1997, Br. Martin was appointed as the administrator of the school. Under his dedicated leadership, St. Benedict’s School gained a strong identity and stability. He worked tirelessly to complete all registration processes and secure official approvals from the Education Department, thereby legally establishing and strengthening the institution.

Today, St. Benedict’s English Medium School continues to uphold its founding vision—offering quality education rooted in values, care, and community service—while nurturing young minds for a responsible and meaningful future.
